What to do on a summery rainy day? MAKE BANANA BREAD!
Yes, clear out the freezer of all those old brown banana's or the fruit basket where the heat has turned your bananas to soon. This recipe is from my mom and it is amazing. She would always add nuts or chocolate chips to the batter before baking, but the recipe can stand on it's own two feet with out extra toppings.
Serves: 2 loaf pans or 12 muffins
2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup banan puree (4 medium bananas all mushed up)
To start preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Butter and line your loaf pans with wax paper and set aside. Then in a bowl sift together dry ingredients together twice. With your blender whip other ingredients together until throughly blended. Mix in the dry ingredients in with your wet ingredients quickly and throughly. Pour batter into your loaf pans and put int he oven. They should be in the oven for about 40 minutes. I live at high altitude so I had to keep them in there another 15 minutes. Just keep testing them with a toothpick until the toothpick comes out clean.
